To help schools meet the new challenges brought about by globalisation and ICT, iNet is launching the iNet Global Village program. This program is a series of activities and events aimed at preparing today’s schoolchildren for a world that is increasingly global and virtual.
iNet Global Village will be a boldly designed education environment consisting of opportunities for students to
iNet Global Village takes advantage of iNet’s established support for educational innovation, and its existing network of thousands of schools worldwide. It builds on the many national and international activities and events of iNet, such as online conferences for educators and students, student voice, system leadership, and personalizing learning.
The series of iNet Global Village events will include:
The Academy will admit students ages 16 to 19 from all iNet member schools from different countries. The students will learn, live, and work together for a month in one of the iNet 'global villages' to be established in the US, UK, Australia, China, and New Zealand. Each academy will have 3-5 students from iNet member countries.
iNet Global Village will also host a series of online conferences that deal with global issues concerning the environment, health, religion, culture, education, poverty, and other issues of interest to students.
This will be a virtual space for students to express themselves and engage in deep conversations with others. Through publishing their works to an international audience and critiquing/reviewing works of students from other cultures, they students will learn about cultural differences, other people’s different views, how to critique others and how to deal with critiques of their own works.
iNet Global Village festivals are times when students from all over the world come together online or face-to-face in certain locations to showcase their accomplishment and celebrate. Possible themes for these festivals include film, music, art, design, literature and science.
