Two authors, a professor, who is a noted author and presenter, and an outstanding school leader, now a valued consultant, have together produced two pamphlets that explore the principles of resourcing schools to meet the demands of education now and in the future.
Brian Caldwell and Jim Spinks are well known to many educational leaders as joint authors of four previous publications on international educational reform, notably through their series on the self-managing school.
As Professor Brian Caldwell, former Dean of Education at Melbourne University, writes: ‘no reform in education can succeed without appropriate resources.’ His pamphlet outlines the underlying principles. He describes ‘next practice’ – what schools and educational systems will need to do differently; best practice and the enduring principles for resourcing education.
In the second of these pamphlets Jim Spinks, an Australian school leader for 27 years who is now consulted by schools and education authorities around the world, illustrates models for allocating resources to and within schools.
