21st Century Schooling: The Globalised Challenge
25 – 27 November 2009
International School Showcases
We are delighted to invite iNet affiliates to join us at
the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust’s 17th
National Conference in England in November 2009. iNet is the
international arm of the SSAT.
This year’s National Conference takes place on the cusp of the next
decade, in the midst of a rapidly changing national and
international context. To prepare our young people for the future
they will face, we need to provide them with an understanding of
the opportunities they have in a global employment market. Schools
will play a crucial role in equipping students with the talent and
skills to survive in the 21st century.
The time is right to think through the challenges laid down for
education and explore the next steps for school-led transformation.
Delegates will be challenged to address three key questions
pertinent to the system redesign agenda explored at the 2008
conference:
- How are we currently meeting the challenge of globalisation in
our schools?
- How can we redesign schooling so we can prepare students even
more effectively for the flatter world of the 21st century? What
knowledge, skills and understanding do young people need for the
future world of work?
- What are the implications for school leadership?
This event will be challenging, stimulating
and informative and will inspire you, your colleagues and students
to take ideas back to school to continue the redesign of education
for the young people that you serve.
Funding available for international
school showcases
School showcases are an important element of
the conference enabling participants to share practical examples of
innovation. We are looking to source showcases from schools across
our networks. The showcases need to relate to one of the three
questions above relating to the challenge of globalisation the
skills required and leadership.
For those selected to attend, funding is
available for one presenter including:
- 3 day conference package (25 – 27 November 2009)
- Accommodation expenses (booked by iNet, 3 nights maximum to
include Tuesday 24, Wednesday 25, Thursday 26 November. Bed and
breakfast only)
- Contribution towards travel costs (£500 maximum; booked by
presenter not iNet)
Please note there is no funding available for
a second speaker apart from either a nil cost on the day of your
presentation or a reduced 3 day conference package of £419.
Please note showcases are only being
sought from schools outside of England.
