Workshops with Brian Caldwell and Jim Spinks
December 2006
These workshops looked at shaping policy and practice in
both self-management and personalising learning. They provided
a practical guide to resource allocation, grounded in
international case studies and reflecting the emerging policy
framework in the UK. By attending the workshop delegates
gained the evidence and confidence to abandon old practice and
embrace ‘next practice’.
Delegates had the opportunity to appraise how resources
are allocated in their school using three self-assessment
instruments, and to benchmark current practice against
exemplary approaches from around the world.
The workshops were split into the following sessions:
- Principles of resource allocation for the 21st
century:
Alignment for transformation
- Aligning financial capital to learning outcomes:
The student-focused planning model
- Intellectual capital and social capital:
Governance for schools in the 21st century
- Personalising learning:
Applying the student-focused planning model
