iNet - System redesign: The transformation of schools from the 20th to the 21st century

Many countries are exploring how their school systems need to be re-designed in order to meet the changing demands of the 21st century.

In these conferences Professor David Hargreaves and iNet's personalising learning team will guide participants through the personalising learning journey, from the initial nine gateways, to four deeps, and ultimately to system redesign.

The purpose of these seminars is to:

Share the thinking and action being taken for system redesign in England
Help the countries visited to develop their own system redesign network
Establish partnerships between iNet countries that will lead to a major iNet conference on system redesign in November 2008.

How is schools-led system redesign created and sustained?
How does it work in practice, both within individual schools and through a collaborative network of schools?
How is this achieved in practice in terms of curriculum and school organisation?
How do such changes improve student learning and relationships between teachers and students and among students?

What are the major theses and areas for development in system redesign over the next three years?
Which are the most promising spheres for innovation and how might this operate in practice?
What is the best way to set about system redesign in each iNet country, given the important differences in history, culture and current context?
What features of system redesign are common to many countries and which are unique to individual countries?
How will inter-country collaboration in system redesign be organised?

The two day event will be held in a number of countries during the first six months of 2008.
