As one of the national key vocational schools, Beijing Jinsong Vocational School was established in 1983. It has since set up first–rate facilities, including internet access and an electronic reading system. It also has outstanding teaching staff, who educate the students to become high quality professionals. There are more than 10 faculties in the school, including cookery, hotel and tourism management, ICT and a variety of performing and visual arts.
We greatly appreciate the chance to join the Towards the Olympics project. We have established good contact with our partner school, Haberdasher’s Aske’s Hatcham College in London. Our nominated lead teachers are liaising to develop the topics and joint projects we hope to cover. All students and teachers in our school are keen to communicate with them to develop a greater understanding of the Olympic spirit and culture.
Six faculties will be involved in the project, namely:
212 students and 9 class advisers will work on the project, with each class allocating one or two periods each week.
The cookery faculties in our school have been honoured both nationally and internationally (for instance in competitions in Finland and Germany). We particularly hope to be able to share our expertise in this area with our partner school.
